Four people, including three children, were injured and taken to the hospital Tuesday after a collision with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 led to their car rolling onto its roof, authorities said.

It occurred about 11:52 a.m. on I-78 West at mile-marker 48.1 in Upper Macungie Township, Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville said.

The crash slowed westbound traffic to a crawl in the area of Route 100, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed.

The commercial vehicle, driven by Ralph Stewart, of Princeton, Kentucky, was in the left lane beside a sedan driven in the right lane by Sonali A. Clinton, of Brooklyn, New York, police said.

The truck began to merge into the right lane and struck the sedan, which went into a spin, according to police.

The sedan then struck the center concrete median and rolled onto its roof.

Clinton along with three children from Brooklyn, one age 9 and two age 6, were taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, police said.

The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured, according to police.
