By moving this Wednesday in a contact centre tax, to Amiens, the minister of the Action and of the public Accounts sought to be reassuring on the implementation of the reform of the tax at source, effective from the beginning of the year. Saluting before all the "great work" of the agents of public finance, the former member of the Town has found the way in which they responded to telephone inquiries from taxpayers via the number of non-surcharged call to metropolitan france which was dedicated by Bercy. Gérald Darmanin reported that there was "no further appeal" of taxpayers concerned, at the national level, during the month of December. "There is no bug technique", has he hammered, praising the work of preparation done beforehand by the tax administration. So far, the minister has conceded that there could be "questions of taxpayers" in front of this new payment method.

Gérald Darmanin took the opportunity to boast the merits of a transformation, which it considers indispensable, and which aims to "simplify" the life of the taxpayers: "it's been a century that we would have had to make this reform", he estimated, visibly confident, before adding that "in a month, it is as the mobile phone, we will ask ourselves how we were doing before". For him, the reform will also allow the tax administration to be more flexible and adapt more quickly to the "life-changing" taxpayers, "a two-month" only against "one year" before. "If you have a change, and if you took cash in addition, you will reimburse in two months," he promised.

Asked about "the psychological effect" of the levy at source on the purchasing power, the minister, visibly annoyed, said that there will be, on the contrary, a "positive shock": for him, this reform represents, above all, an advanced welcome compared to the levy monthly payments, and it will enable the French to avoid the "cash problems" when they paid their taxes on the 17th of the month and receive their pay ten days after. "Now, on the 17th of the month, they will no longer be collected and they will pay their income tax as they pay their social security contributions," he added.

For Gérald Darmanin, the reform should not, therefore, reinforce the tensions that have plagued the territory in recent months, nor the distrust vis-à-vis the tax, on the contrary: "there is no political risk, the French want above all to continue to transform the country" and "all the surveys show, for the last ten months that the French are in favour of" the tax at source, if is it justified. The tax administration will respond to the questions of each taxpayer, including "elderly people and people who do not have the habit of making administrative procedures through the internet", has defended the minister to convince the recalcitrant.

Asked by LCI on the future of the tax policy of the Hexagon, in the context of the great national debate intended by Emmanuel Macron in response to the crisis of the "yellow vests", Gérald Darmanin said he was in favour of the "consultation of the people", while recalling that there was a need to "explain" the issues to citizens. Citing the example of the income tax act, the minister felt that it was necessary to present the role of the tax, its usefulness, as well as the consequences of the reduction of its rate. The elected thus expected that the "popular expressions" on the tax issue and said that he did not "fear".
