Europe 1.fr: the strikers disappointed by their meeting with the management

A strike was followed on Tuesday 11 April to demand including the establishment of a part of the writing. A new appointment with the management has been fixed on Monday.

"Even more precarious". This is the response that, according to the employees strikers in Europe 1.fr has been made by the management. Friday, 12 April, they were received by Laurent Guimier, vice-president-director general of the radio, and Olivier Lendresse, director of digital, three days after a strike that has crippled the web editorial of the station. "The response made to the journalists that denounce the precarious situation in which Europe, 1 locked for too many years, then, is the following : more precariousness !", regret in a statement released in the wake of this meeting.

These journalists are precarious, who are working on the web site of the radio, represent half of the workforce. Paid as freelancers that are paid for with the working day, they call for a clarification of the digital agenda for Europe 1, ahead of a restructuring, as well as a reclassification of their contract of employment permanent contract.

Decline in the number of pins

on Friday, the management has promised the opening of three CDI : two at the pole "social media" and a third at the pole "Europe 1 Studio," which manages the creation of audiovisual content on the web. "To the extent that the two employees on permanent contracts who have been compelled to leave the service in recent months, and where the adjustment of a third as a community manager was already in discussion for several weeks, this ad, presented as 'something quite exceptional' by Laurent Guimier, is not in reality", complain to the strikers.

According to them, the management does not respond "no" to the demands of the journalists who went on strike. "Once again, the management refuses to sustain the workforce of the editorial digital", they write. "Worse, the management announced during this meeting that these same sellers would soon be their monthly number of pins down for budgetary reasons. She declined to specify the extent of this reduction, now once more the teams in the blur".

A new appointment was set for Monday between the employees and the management which is committed to give more details on these ads. Contacted Saturday by the Le Figaro , the direction of the station did not wish to speak, reserving his respect in priority to the teams of the resort.

The salary of the "stars"

The anger of the strikers was much greater on Friday that an article in Mediapart, published on the eve of the meeting with the management revealed that the stars of Europe 1 had "juicy rewards'. Their salary has increased in recent years despite the financial difficulties put forward by the management.

"July 11, 2016, Europe 1 delivers to Nicolas Canteloup a contract in the amount of the monthly lump-sum and final settlement of 150.755 euros HT for the season to come", citing the example of Mediapart. This amount has been revised upwards, season after season. Anne Roumanoff was at the same period 30,000 euros monthly. The facilitators of the antenna had to a pay a monthly average of 15.513 euros in 2015, says Mediapart. "In the salary slips that we have been able to consult, one finds of ancient glories from the small screen paid 3000 euros to the chronicle, matinaliers flirting with the € 30,000 of salary," lists the site.

At the time the direction was a state of economic difficulties, due to a decline in audiences and advertising revenues, the highest wages have seen their pay increase by up to 11%. In parallel, "the precarious workers of the station are a part of 1800 euros per month", note Mediapart.

Those paid to freelance have, therefore, learned Friday that their salaries could be even lower for budget reasons. A decision deemed "unacceptable" by the employees strikers, who have learned through the press that "the highest income of the company had been increasing in recent years."
