The fertility rate is higher among the employed and working-that at the executive level. The employed have on average 1,91 child, while the workers were 1.76 and executives 1,64. In addition, women who have never worked (excluding students) have, on average 3,24 children, a figure considerably higher than the national average, although their proportion in the population studied is low (around 5%).

The average age of mothers rising

Overall, the fertility rate of French women has increased since 1999, the year when the average was 1.78 children per woman.
