A 46-year-old man was charged Thursday morning in a 2007 sexual assault of a 2-year-old boy in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

Carmelo Ramirez of the 4100 block of South Maplewood avenue was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, and predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, police said.

Ramirez was identified as the person who sexually assaulted a boy between March 1 and October 31, 2007. Police said the incident occurred in the same block where Ramirez lives.

He was scheduled to appearing Thursday afternoon at a bail hearing.
