An inbound Metra train on the BNSF line struck a pedestrian near the Western Springs station Thursday morning, halting trains indefinitely in both directions for morning commuters. 

The 1208 train traveling east from Aurora hit the person at about 6:25 a.m., said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis. 

Passengers should expect "extensive" delays, according to a tweet from Metra.
