In international comparison, Germany is far behind when it comes to managers. Women represent only 12 percent of executives in DAX corporations.

Only a few women continue to work in boards of German DAX companies. A study by Allbright Foundation has compared 30 largest listed companies in France, United Kingdom, Poland, Sweden, USA and Germany and comes to conclusion: nowhere are so few women represented at management level as in Germany.

In Federal Republic, only about 12 percent of board members were female. Similar quotas would be in Turkey or India. In USA or Sweden, proportion of women in boards of top companies is around one quarter. In UK, according to study, about 20 percent of board members are female, 15 per cent in Poland and France.

In large companies such as Apple, IBM, Coca-Cola, Hennes Mauritz, L'Oréal, Danone or Unilever, more than 30 percent of women already worked on boards. In Germany, however, not a single Dax group is able to reach a 30 percent share of women in Management board. Moreover, in Germany no top companies is managed by a woman – a unique selling point.
