ber Airport: Cabling Defective

There are problems with cable refurbishment at capital city Airport in Berlin, which is completed in parts. This is reported by picture on Sunday, citing documents from TÜV Rheinland and project tax firm WSP. According to this, an internal status report of WSP of 16 April, which is given to newspaper in its own words, states that cabling is over eleven months behind schedule. There were 1,415 deficiencies, of which 863 were "essential deficiencies". Furr delays would have a "likelihood of occurrence of gt; 50%".

According to picture on Sunday, project tax firm holds currently planned opening date, October 2020, for little realistic. Airport spokesman Hannes Stefan Hönemann contradicted this presentation. BER has been under construction since 2006; Five times, its opening, which was initially planned for October 2011, had already been postponed.

As early as February, according to newspaper report, TÜV Rheinland had presented a 466-page report on safety power supply and safety lighting at BER. It stated that operational safety of installations in question could be "not conclusively certified".

Airport spokesman Hönemann confirmed existence of documents, but pointed out that report was in middle of April. Since n, countermeasures have been taken and successfully implemented. Deficiencies have been eliminated or are currently being eliminated. For example, teams of construction company Rome, which is strongly criticised in internal report, have been strengned. On planned opening date of BER in October 2020, latest problems did not change, emphasised Hönemann.
