Völz stood for more than 600 television and about 150 films in front of camera. In 1950s, he was initially active as a stage actor, before he became known throughout Germany as Lieutenant Mario de Monti aboard space ship Orion in mid-1960s as a space Patrol science fiction TV series. Later he took acting lessons in Hannover and debuted in 1950 as a page in Schiller's Don Carlos at Landesater Hannover. In 1954 he joined Cabaret ensemble Porcupines in Berlin. In 1960s, his TV career began with guest appearances in two episodes of crime series Stahlnetz.
