A court in Detroit accuses Martin Winter Korn of being a part of the diesel exhaust scandal. He is part of a conspiracy, it is said in the indictment.

The US Department of Justice accuses Volkswagen's former CEO Martin Winter Korn of complicity in diesel exhaust scandal. This is based on an extended indictment published by court in Detroit.

Winter grain is accused of being part of a conspiracy to violate U.S. environmental laws. The manager had resigned from office in September 2015 shortly after U.S. authorities had uncovered exhaust gas manipulations from numerous diesel cars at VW. Volkswagen n admitted to pressure from US authorities to have installed illegal software in around eleven million diesel vehicles of different brands worldwide. The program reduces emission of harmful nitrogen oxides in standardized tests, but not in normal operation on road. Winter grain had emphasized not to be aware of any misconduct.

Because of scandal, VW had to pay fines in United States in billions of dollars. In addition, car manufacturer in United States called back around 600,000 cars. The affair also severely damaged image of diesel engine. The US judicial authorities had already put criminal charges against eight incumbent and former employees of VW Group. Two of m have already been sentenced to multi-year prison sentences and high fines.

Against winter grain and or managers is also determined in Germany. On one because of initial suspicion of fraud, on or because of market manipulation. Investors are refore complaining about damages in billions because VW share went down after scandal became known.
