Reader survey: What does it mean for you to grow old?

The world's population is in a dramatic ageing process. By 2030, more people will live on this earth, older than 60, than those who are under nine years of age. Germany is one of countries with highest average age – one in five is already older than 65. In a few decades, this could apply to entire world population.

As life expectancy rises and people get older, number of those who can work becomes smaller. That has consequences. Rising costs for health, pensions and housing are threatening. But se challenges seem solvable. Researchers have proven that way we think about being old has a big impact on how we grow older. Those who think positively about getting older, for example, have better chances to strengn health and well-being in old age. Such positive thinking can have an impact on society as a whole.

That's why we want to know how you think about getting older – and what attitudes people have in or countries around world. This tries to find time online toger with global journalist cooperation Orb media and a number of leading international media houses. The participating editors ask ir readers in ir countries how y think about being old and what positive or negative feelings y associate with it.

Help us to find out for Germany also by answering our small questionnaire. The data collected will be used anonymously exclusively for research in this international project.
