The world's largest research and development budget (R D) has ceased to be Volkswagen Group, but US company Amazon. This resulted in a study by Strategy , strategic advice of auditing and consulting group PwC, which is presented to German press agency. The second-placed alphabet invested 13.9 billion dollars, Intel and Samsung ever came to $12.7 billion. In terms of sales, internet and software giants made much more for research and development – Amazon came to 11.8 percent in so-called R D quota, Intel to 21.5 percent, pharmaceutical Merck with 25.4 percent to 8th place.

However, amount of research expenditure is only limited to information about success of se investments. For Volkswagen, this has yet to be demonstrated, especially with regard to e-mobility. At opening of this year's IAA, VW Group CEO Müller announced that Volkswagen intends to drive its investment in electromobility up to 2030 to 20 billion euros.
