The Ver. Di trade union has called for warning strikes at Deutsche Post. It aims to strengn its negotiating position in wage conflict. In Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Bavaria and Saarland, around 1,500 shipping and co-workers are to lay down work.

According to information from a Ver. Di spokesman, around 500 employees participated in stand alone in Bavaria, with several hundred employees in North Rhine-Westphalia reckoning in rallies in Cologne and Dortmund. Verdi's head of state, Birgit Sperner, was convinced that employees deserved a significant increase in tariffs – "Swiss Post has nothing to offer," said Sperner. Uwe Speckenwirth, regional head of postal services of union in North Rhine-Westphalia, also joined this criticism and justified decision to strike: "The patience of colleagues is at an end." For Friday ver. di announced furr actions.

Ver. Di calls for six percent more wages for approximately 130,000 employees of Swiss post. In addition, employees will be given opportunity to convert part of fee increase into free time. The new collective agreement shall be valid for one year.

On 26 and 27 February, representatives of Union and group will meet for new talks. The third round of collective bargaining had ended last week without agreement. Frank Appel, CEO of Swiss Post, had warned against excessive demands in past: company had no financial leeway for "significant increases in wages".
