US Trade Minister Wilbur Ross has rejected criticism of his financial commitment to Russia. The fact that shipping company Navigator, in which he is supposed to be involved, has business relations with Russia, is completely clean, BBC quoted minister.

According to media reports, Ross has a share of 31 percent of shipping company, whose vessels have been earning millions of dollars per year with gas transports for Russian petrochemical companies Sibur, through various partnerships and investment vehicles. "The fact that Sibur is called a Russian company does not mean that re is anything wrong with it," said Ross of BBC. The company is not subject to sanctions.

The Ross reports are part of Paradise Papers, a comprehensive collection of data on use of tax havens that have been leaked to journalists. As documentation shows, navigator has been 2014 with Sibur transactions worth more than 68 million dollars. Ross was involved in navigator via a chain of letterbox companies.

The trade minister told BBC that Sibur was a very large company that chartered "just a few ships" at navigator. "Since re is no interweaving of supervisory boards, of shareholders, I had nothing to do with negotiations on deal," added minister of US President Donald Trump.

The negotiations would have taken place before moving to supervisory board of Navigator, said 79-year-old billionaire. "There is nothing that would be inadmissible even in least." According to media reports, Paradise papers shows that navigator had expanded business in Russia since 2014, when US had imposed sanctions against Russia for attacks on Ukraine. Ross benefits from Business Contacts in context of President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian chemical company Sibur confirmed reports on orders for navigator. With tankers of shipping company, liquefied natural gas (LNG) is shipped from Baltic Sea port Ust-Luga near St. Petersburg, group shared. However, navigator is only one feeder of many in gas exports.

"Sibur is astonished by politically influenced portrayal of completely normal economic activity in some media," Russian company shared with it. In first half of year, navigator received 2017 orders of $15.9 million. In ICIJ reports, businesses have been talking about 68 million dollars since 2014.
