QuickChek 50th anniversary: How to get free coffee, discounts on subs, smoothies

QuickChek is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with 10 weeks of special offers starting Monday, Feb. 20.

The Whitehouse Station-based company, which started in Dunellen in 1967 and now includes 147 stores in New Jersey and New York, will offer a variety of in-store and mobile app offers over the next two and a half months.

"We are thrilled to celebrate 50 years of meeting the needs of our customers," said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. "While we opened the very first QuickChek store on March 15, 1967, we feel our customers deserve more than a one-day celebration."

Starting this week, customers can enjoy a wide range of deals and savings, ranging from free coffee and fountain drinks to buy-one-get-one offers from QuickChek's menu of breakfast sandwiches, handcrafted subs and smoothies to freshly-made hot snacks and packaged goods.

This week's special deals include buy-one-get-one potato bowls and Gold Leaf tea through the QuickChek mobile app; in-store specials include buy-one-get-one medium smoothies.

The QuickChek story began in 1888, when Durling Farms was founded to serve Central Jersey. Over the next 79 years, the Durling Farms brand grew to become synonymous with quality milk and dairy products, delivered fresh to the customer's door.

In 1967, Carlton C. Durling founded QuickChek to ensure that loyal Durling Farms customers had a neighborhood shopping destination not only for their milk but for a full range of deli and other food products. He opened the first QuickChek store in Dunellen in 1967.

In 2014, QuickChek was voted the best coffee in America in a national consumer survey. In 2016, it was named the National Convenience Store Chain of the Year and the industry's Food Service Innovator of the Year.

In addition to its legendary coffee wall, in-store Q Cafes feature baristas who custom-make more than 60 varieties of handcrafted hot and iced cold drinks, including blended-to-order fruit smoothies and fresh-brewed espressos brewed with QuickChek's Dark Roast espresso beans in regular, decaf and extra shots.

Patrons can enjoy additional convenience and savings by downloading the QuickChek mobile app at quickchek.com. Loyal customers are also rewarded with a free coffee after they purchase six coffees.

QuickChek also sponsors one of New Jersey's more colorful annual events, the QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning, which will be held July 28-30 this year.
