Daily Camera, staff win 10 CAPER awards

The staff of the Daily Camera took home 10 awards for the 2016 Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters contest at an awards ceremony on Friday evening at the Sheraton Denver West in Lakewood.

The Daily Camera's staff took first place in online: best website.

Shay Castle won second and third place in the business story category for "Seeds of Debate" and "Almost Impossible," respectively.

Dave Krieger won second place in editorials and third place in news columns.

Cliff Grassmick won second place in general news photo for "Cancer Haircut" and third place for spot news photo "Serious Accident."

Paul Aiken won third place in portrait/personality for "A man and his Parrot."

Mitchell Byars won second place in spot news for "Chaos on Campus."

Former reporter Sarah Kuta won third place in investigative reporting for "Gender Discrimination in CU Business School."

Twelve daily newspapers entered 627 entries in the contest. The Daily Camera competes in the Circulation Group III — 300,000 and above.
