Mount Prospect man charged with leaving scene after striking pedestrian with his vehicle

Mount Prospect police arrested a man who struck a 17-year-old female pedestrian with his vehicle and left the scene of the accident, police said.

Scott Myslinski, 46, of the 1400 block of East Lowden Lane, Mount Prospect, was arrested Thursday. He is charged with one felony count of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and one count of failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Police said the victim sustained non life-threatening injuries as a result of the April 17 accident at Lowden Lane and Wolf Road.

Police said the preliminary investigation showed the pedestrian entered northbound into the crosswalk of Lowden Lane after seeing a blue sedan come to a stop, waiting to turn onto Wolf Road. While she was crossing the roadway, in the middle of the crosswalk, the blue sedan proceeded eastbound and struck the pedestrian.

The sedan stopped briefly and then continued forward, turning southbound onto Wolf Road, fleeing the scene. The pedestrian was able to provide a description of the vehicle and later provided the license plate of the vehicle that had struck her.

On Thursday, investigators observed the blue sedan described by the victim leaving a residence in the 1400 block of Lowden Lane and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The driver, later identified as Myslinski, voluntarily came to the police station and spoke with the investigators about the incident.

Police said evidence of the accident was also discovered on Myslinski's vehicle.

Myslinski was taken for a bond hearing at the 3rd District Cook County Court in Rolling Meadows. Myslinski appeared before Judge Cerone-Marisie, who set bond at $10,000. His next scheduled court date is at 10:30 a.m. on May 11.
