Austria: Second Nazi hymn book deals with Justice

The Austrian judiciary investigates second case of a Nazi songbook, in which right-wing populist ruling party FPOe is once again involved. The Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office initiated a procedure on Wednesday. The weekly magazine Falter had reported on Tuesday that beating Viennese fraternity Bruna Sudetia use a hymn book with anti-Semitic texts. The fraternity rejected accusations.

Only three weeks ago, Austrian FPOe politician Udo Farmer had resigned for a book with Nazi songs from anor fraternity. In current case, chairman of Bruna Sudetia Herwig Götschober, a close employee of FPOe Transport Minister Norbert Hofer. Götschober is responsible for social media in Ministry of Transport and is also FPOe-district in Vienna-Leopoldstadt.

The text collection contains, among or things, an anti-Semitic song, which Moth had also revealed in January in case of songbook of peasants fraternity Germania. Or songs are from Hans Baumann, who wrote and composed songs for Hitler Youth and Confederation of German Girls.

From Ministry of Transport it was said on Tuesday, Götschober do not know song book. Also peasants had indicated that nothing had been known of songs and lamented a "media hatz" against him. He was Vice-chairman of fraternity Germania.

The FPOe of Vice-chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache ruled since last December in a coalition with right-wing conservative People's Party (ÖVP) of federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. Of 51 FPOe deputies, more than one third are members of fraternities. The FPOe cabinet members also have a high proportion of fellow students.
