East Germans could finally get feeling that re are basically only two varieties of governance: eir it governs west. Or it governs West, but at least with a bad conscience. Just time for second.

To explain this, one must know perhaps most important inference from Bundestag election, which has been imposed on East German politicians by SPD and CDU in recent weeks: y have become more powerless.

For collective AfD-elect, with which east has impressed an impressive terror to whole country, led to exact opposite of what had only been suspected.

SPD and even more CDU did not decide to päppeln new countries in particular now; To give m in particular new identification figures and representatives (ministers from East!) in federal cabinet. No, y were half snapped, half disinterested just turned off. According to motto: if we don't have anything to gain in east anyway, we don't have to worry too much about this area.

Or, related to SPD member's decision: We don't care if we convince Brandenburg as long as we can convince Bochum and Boppard.

Those who speak to East German politicians in Bundestag, but also from provincial governments, are hearing loud complaints about precisely this experience: Ossis are currently rar insensitive to power politics. As long as CSU continues to ripped off confidently that it can seriously maneuver a development aid minister into office again because he is schwabe – as long as east politicians can struggle as much as y want. They only get what West is willing to give. And sometimes even less.

It was all more striking that those who govern country as (West German) ministers in future now suddenly show a bad conscience. So you could almost believe: Oh, from reelection shock re was something stuck!

For se new and Altminister over past few days have been outbid with promises and praises in direction of five new countries.

The East will be " focus" of his work, said Peter Altmaier, new CDU economics minister from Saarland.

The new chancellor chief Helge Braun, who was born in Hesse, also promised to "improve representation of East Germany even furr" (where "again" and "next" are quite funny words in this context).

New public institutions would have to be "predominantly located in new countries", CDU Bundestag group chairman Volker Kauder, a Baden-Württemberger, called for "Lighthouse Projects".

This article comes from time No. 11/2018. Here you can read entire output.

And Bavaria's designated prime Minister, Markus Söder (CSU), announced that newly created Federal Ministry of Homeland in responsibility of Horst Seehofer will "especially" help East German Länder; After all, it is a question of "nurturing identity and advancing development in all parts of country." Then, finally, Seehofer's new interior secretary of state, CSU man Stephan Mayer, came up with coronation in a MDR interview. He said that East Germans could "certainly" rely on CSU to uphold ir interests.

All this is, in general, so funny, interesting and slightly dirty at same time, that one has to ask question: Yes, what good is it – East in thought? What will it do if all West German ministers now affirm that y want to take care of East in particular?
