Since they published mug shots, the investigators have received more than 50 clues from the population. But there is also criticism of the manhunt.

One day after start of public manhunt for more than 100 suspected G20 rioters, a suspect has reported to Hamburg police. A police spokesman confirmed that man had admitted to being involved in plundering of a supermarket.

The police sought a total of about 100 suspects since Monday. The photos had been published online. In addition to five focal points, videos are available which show events at several focal points during summit of main industrial and emerging countries at beginning of July. Within one day, according to police, more than 50 indications from population were received.

According to Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office, search is usually accused of dangerous bodily injury, heavy land invasion or arson.

The CDU Bundestag member Armin Schuster defended step against criticism of left. The Code of Criminal Procedure authorises a public prosecutor if all or efforts have been unsuccessful before and when it comes to offences of major importance, he said. This was carefully weighed down by prosecutor, and judges had agreed to measure. Baden-Württemberg Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) also said that manhunt was "right and very necessary". Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) joined him.

Left warns of lifelong stigma

The Left faction in Hamburg citizenry had criticized police for mug shots and videos. "This is mood-making, and I wonder how such a procedure could be sanctioned by a court," said domestic political spokeswoman Christiane Schneider. Through photographs, depicted persons threaten life-long stigma, wher or not y are condemned.

Schneider also criticized head of responsible department of Soko Black Block. The chief investigator has announced, "We get many of you, you can be sure." That's what you hear about "chasing people," Schneider said. The left-Bundestag MEP Ulla Jelpke said, telephone hotlines opened accusations door.

Berlin's left-handed autonomous have responded to Hamburg manhunt: They published photographs of 54 policemen who were supposed to have taken part in house evictions in Friedrichshain district. "We are happy to find out where you live or are private," said a letter. "In addition to taking part in eviction, you can be held responsible for violence of three weeks of siege."

CDU domestic politician Schuster said that this was " beginning of terror". The state could not afford it, "when hunting is done on police officers".
