Near Moscow, an airplane with 71 people crashed on board. All were killed, as the air traffic Authority confirmed.

Russia: Passenger plane crashed in Moscow

When a Russian passenger aircraft crashed in Moscow area, all 71 people were killed on board. This was shared by air traffic Authority in Moscow. The aircraft of airline Saratov Airlines of type an-148 had disappeared from radar after start of airport Domodedovo, confirmed Russian civil protection of agency Tass. There were debris parts of machine of type an-148 as well as several deaths found in region of Saturn, about 40 kilometers away from airport, it was said.

The investigating authority initiated criminal proceedings for possible violations of flight safety. On board aircraft were 65 passengers and six crew members, it was said from government circles. The plane was thus on way to city of Orsk near border with Kazakhstan.

In total, re have been at least four heavy aircraft crashes in Russia with a total of more than 240 deaths since 2010. The last crash occurred in March 2016. At that time a Boeing 737-800 from Dubai crashed into airport of million city Rostov-on-Don. The plane of low-cost fly Flydubai smashed into a fireball. All 62 people on board died.

Two and a half years earlier, a Boeing 737-500 was hit on runway and burned in flames when it approached Russian city of Kazan. There were no survivors, 50 people died.
