Cali Love scored two goals as Alamo Heights rode a dominating second half to a 6-0 win over Austin Ann Richards Friday in a Class 5A bidistrict contest at Orem Stadium.

The Mules scored five goals in the second half, with Love scoring twice and Ashleigh Hernandez, Peyton Hardy, Sophia Connelly each chipping in one apiece. Katherine Detmer scored the game-winner with 8½ minutes remaining in the first half.

“We kind of expected the nerves because it was our first playoff game,” Love said.

“Once we got one in the back of the net, I think that really helped our confidence.”

Smithson Valley 1, O’Connor 0: Kaitlyn Bumgarner, Hayley Oatman, Rachel Dzuiba and Kaitlyn Smith each converted penalty kicks as the Rangers won in a shootout.

It was a rematch of a third-round contest from a year ago, which O’Connor won 2-0 en route to making the regional final.

Clemens 1, Clark 0: The Buffaloes won via penalty kicks in the first round for the second straight year. A year ago, Clemens stunned Reagan 4-3, overcoming a two-goal deficit.

Reagan 5, Hays 1: A year after losing in the first round and failing to advance to at least the regional quarterfinals, the Rattlers had no troubles this time around. Taylor Olson scored two goals and assisted on another as the Rattlers cruised to victory in Seguin.

Ja’la Tousant, Cori Hernandez and Elena Brown each added a goal apiece for Reagan. Gaby Olsen had two assists.

Steele 7, Brennan 1: CaLeigha Callahan and Andrea Cardenas each figured in three goals as the Knights dominated. Callahan scored two goals and assisted on another, while Cardenas tallied one goal and two assists. Gisselle Kozarski, Mayela Villasenor, Autumn Renaker and Araselei Cortazar each had a goal apiece.

Highlands 2, Victoria West 1: Catalina Canizalez and Kassandra Ayala each scored goals for the Owls. It was Canizalez’s 50th goal of the season, making only the 11th player in area girls history to reach the mark.
