Atomic Energy Agency: Iran continues to comply with nuclear agreements

Iran continues to comply with requirements of nuclear agreement. This is conclusion of UN Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in its quarterly report. Thus, Iran does not accumulate too strong uranium, nor do re exist any illegal stockpiles of uranium or heavy water. In addition, IAEA employees would have easy access to all relevant locations.

The agreement with five UN veto powers and Germany is intended to prevent Iran from building a nuclear bomb. The country has committed itself to significantly less uranium and to allow international controls. For this, it has access to international financial markets and is allowed to ship oil to Europe. The agreement was negotiated 2015 under US President Barack Obama. Since n, US President must decide every 120 days wher Esweiterhin should apply. A withdrawal from United States from agreement would make it virtually meaningless.

US president Donald Trump refused last year to confirm Iran's adherence to agreement. In January, Trump had given treaty a "last chance" and suspended sanctions against Iran for anor 120 days. Trump called nuclear agreement worst ever concluded agreement, re are "numerous violations" of Iran. US Vice President Mike Pence also spoke of a "disaster" and threatened with sanctions. Without renegotiation, US would get off immediately.

In event of renewed sanctions, Iran, for its part, threatened to get out of agreement. The country is also considering use of nuclear engines in shipping. This is contrary to nuclear agreement, which allows nuclear technology to be used only by civilians.
