The government is rising from core Europe, says Anton Pelinka. Conflicts within the coalition are only a matter of time.

What did you expect from Sebastian Kurz and Heinz-Christian Strache? A new Republic? It will not be – neir one that destroys welfare state and tramples fundamental rights, nor one that leads country from shackles of procrastinators and bureaucrats into freedoms of an open democracy. The government has started with Biederer predictability: Since announced setbacks, which Wutbürger to satisfy – from smokers to motorists who have a maximum speed of 130 km per hour for an unreasonable deprivation of liberty Keep; And re are tax cuts that – of course – only bring something to those who pay taxes, not poor.

The Government continues course that has been given in election campaign: much façade and little substance. Everything is smooth, and governing parties have joined toger as a Bussi-Bussi family. But as is case with families, abysses lurk behind harmony.

The new ÖVP won because it imitated FPOe. And who wants to blame Liberals for not wanting to stand in shadow of still shining chancellor in long run?

The year 2018, of course, will do both government parties. In Landtag elections FPOe can only win, and ÖVP will take so much of short effect to be able to record results as a success. But from 2019 it will be different. Then troubles of dejection begin, n-as in a similar situation Andreas Khol in year 2000- march through Gobi Desert begins.

The thirsty route will no longer be marked as 2000 and reafter by an international boycott. The Europe of Union has changed. The FPOe government members are welcome in Visegrad states. The effort of governance is determined by internal inconsistency of Coalition. The Liberals have come to government through fury of those who see mselves as losers of globalisation and Europeanization. With dismantling of welfare state, "Social home party" cannot satisfy interests of its clientele in long term.

This article dates back to time No. 04/2018. Here you can read entire output. The ÖVP calls for less state, but FPOe cannot do exactly that

The already broken-up conflict around Beate Hartinger-Klein is a harbinger of what is to come: FPOe social minister, set up by head of government under trusteeship, stands for claim of her party to be better social democracy in matters of social policy. And Hartinger-Klein could insist that you, as minister, cannot make any rules – not Chancellor, not vice-chancellor. The written constitution makes every minister sovereign and unbound. This, of course, is rubbing itself with real Constitution, which builds on state of party. This is also in line with interest of FPOe vice-chancellor Strache, who does not want to be disturbed by a principled member of his own government faction, who wants to finally govern his life's goal.

The conflict over social minister is a harbinger of what is to come: "new" ÖVP wants less state. However, FPÖ, which has been exactly to government thanks to its populist opposition course, cannot wish to do so.
