Gavin Grimm: Transsexual American wins the toilet fight

A year after his graduate in United States, transsexual Gavin Grimm subsequently enforced his right to a free choice of toilets. A federal judge in Virginia ruled that school had violated rights of her former disciple. Today's 19-year-old student had sued his former school because she had forbidden him to use boy's toilet, as his birth certificate was a girl's ID.

Grimm was represented by Civil rights organization ACLU. "I feel incredibly relieved," ACLU quoted him after decision. After four years of fighting, he finally had a court decision that clarified that his school had violated law. "I was determined not to give up because I didn't want or students to have same experience as I do." Grimm's lawyer announced that his client would now demand compensation from his school.

As New York Times writes, school has only been informed that it has taken note of decision. Wher or not y will challenge m is currently unclear.

According to newspaper, Grimm's family had informed school 2014 that sophomores was transgender. The school initially allowed him to use young toilet. But after protests by some parents and classmates, school has banned.

Grimm is now one of most prominent transgender activists in United States. They want to clarify basic question, which regulations apply to toilet and bathroom of transgender persons in public spaces. Lastly, several courts had made different judgments in similar lawsuits. There are laws in several states that restrict use of public toilets for those affected.
