Syria: Russia accuses Brits of having staged poison gas attack

The Russian army accused Britain of having staged alleged poison gas attack in Syria. There is evidence that a "direct involvement of Great Britain in organization of this provocation in Ostghuta proves," said spokesman of Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konaschenkow. The British government exerted "strong pressure" on Syrian Civil Protection organization of White Helmets in staging of alleged poison gas attack. However, speaker did not demonstrate evidence. The British UN ambassador, Karen Price, rejected accusation as a "blatant lie." "That's grotesque," said Pierce. "This is one of nastiest pieces of fake news we've seen from Russian propaganda machine so far."

The White Helmets had first announced on Twitter last Saturday that more than 40 people were killed in alleged chlorine gas attack.

According to Russian major general, White Helmets had been told that extremist organization Army al-Islam would bombard Damascus with artillery from April 3 to 6. The government forces would react to this, which in turn should use White Helmets for ir "provocation." According to Konaschenkow, Russian government has "interviews of people directly involved in creation of videos", with which it should be made credible that re has been a chemical weapons attack. Residents of City Duma, now occupied by Syrian government forces, have thus "told in detail how video settings went and what episodes y participated in."

Western states make Russia and Syria responsible

Previously, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had already said: "We have irrefutable evidence that this was anor staged incident." The Secret Service of a "certain state, which is now at front line of an Antirussian campaign", is involved in staging.

Western states are making Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad and Russia responsible for alleged poison gas attack. These reject accusations. French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that France had evidence that Syrian government troops used poison gas. He announced a reaction.

U.S. President Donald Trump also threatened Syrian regime and Russia. Chancellor Angela Merkel said that she had no doubt that re had been a poison gas attack. However, Germany will not participate in any military strike. The World Health Organization (WHO) has shared that it sees clear signs of a poison gas use.

Relations between Britain and Russia are very tense: British government is making Russia responsible for poisoning attack in English city of Salisbury in early March. The former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter had been poisoned re. Julia Skripal has left clinic in meantime. According to United Kingdom, poison used should be Nowitschok, which was developed at time of Soviet Union. The Russian government also rejects this accusation.
