The Philadelphia Phillies acquired star relief pitcher Gregory Soto in a five-man trade from the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

In addition to Soto, the Pennsylvania squad has landed utility player Kody Clemens. She traded in return outfielder Nick Maton, outfielder Matt Vierling and receiver Donny Sands.
Soto has been invited to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game for the past two seasons. The 27-year-old Gunner had 30 saves, ranking him 10th in the league in 2022. He also posted a 3.28 ERA in 60 1/3 innings.
Vierling is the centerpiece of the transaction on the Tigers side. The 26-year-old played his first full season in Philadelphia, batting .246 while producing 32 runs.
