A Perry County, Pennsylvania, man died after driving into a downed tree late Sunday night, according to a published report.

Shannon Lee Martin, 22, of Loysville, was driving at 11:43 p.m. in the 7000 block Wertzville Road in Silver Spring Township, Cumberland County, when he struck the tree and a branch broke through the windshield, pennlive.com said.

Cumberland Coroner Charley Hall told the news website that the branch hit Martin in the chest, breaking his ribs and cutting his heart. He died at West Shore Hospital.
