The city of Kamloops, British Columbia, will host the Memorial Cup tournament in 2023, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced Friday night.

The Kamloops Blazers, a formation of the Western Junior League (WHL), will offer their hospitality to the champions of the Western, Ontario and Quebec junior leagues. They won the tournament three times in four seasons, from 1992 to 1995, being the hosts for this last edition.

“We are thrilled to bring the Memorial Cup tournament back to Kamloops after a hiatus of nearly 30 years,” CHL President Dan MacKenzie said in a statement.

“The Blazers and the City of Kamloops have presented a first-class bid and will be outstanding hosts.”

The Blazers won the BC Division title for the third straight campaign this season and reached the WHL playoff semifinals.

The Saint John Sea Dogs are the hosts of the 2022 Memorial Cup, which will take place June 20-29.
