The earth shook slightly early Saturday morning nearly four kilometers south of Pointe-Calumet, on the North Shore of Montreal.

An earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale occurred around 5 a.m., according to Earthquakes Canada. There was, however, little chance that Quebecers felt it as any tremor less than magnitude 3.5.

Recorded by local seismographs, the earthquake was assessed at a depth of 10 kilometers.

For comparison, a magnitude 3.7 earthquake was perceived on the evening of November 14 on the North Shore of Montreal and was felt in several places in Greater Montreal.
