The driver of the vehicle traveling southbound was unable to avoid the collision, said Raphaël Bergeron of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The victim, who suffered a possible head trauma, was transported to a hospital in a serious condition.

The Montreal police were overnight awaiting the results of the victim's state of health.

Collaborating with the police, the driver of the vehicle, a 63-year-old man, was treated for nervous shock, according to the SPVM spokesperson.
