A body was found in a burned residence in Sorel-Tracy on Sunday.

A call was made to the area fire department for a fire early in the night. Firefighters discovered a body after entering the home.

Quickly, around midnight, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was dispatched to the scene.

The identity of the victim remains unknown at this time.

Crimes against the person investigators are heading to the scene. There would therefore be suspicious elements as to the fire, and the body found.

The SQ also confirmed that a person in his thirties was arrested and had serious burns. This person was transported to the hospital and will be seen when his condition allows it.
