Many police officers are deployed in Drummondville on Saturday, while the CAQ convention is taking place. More than 2000 activists are expected there, but also many demonstrators.

About 2,200 members of the public and parapublic service union of Quebec, who have been without a collective agreement for two years, have planned to come and demonstrate in front of the Centrexpo Cogeco, where the congress is taking place.

A convoy of demonstrators opposed to health measures is also expected. Some demonstrators arrived very early Saturday morning. At 7:30 a.m., a truck was already installed in the parking lot of the shopping center located in front of the Centrexpo. Half an hour later, a hundred demonstrators were visible there, some not hesitating to express their hostility towards the media.

“We are here to claim in relation to everything that has happened in CHSLDs. Madame Blais left old people to die alone. It is deplorable,” said a protester, who only identified himself by the first name of Yan to our journalist.

Another citizen told us of his dissatisfaction with the Legault government.

"Bankruptcies, the impoverishment of the world, gas is expensive, food too... The $500 he gave, that's $9 a week," he said.

In addition, two event sites have been set up in front of the Centrexpo. The public and parapublic service union insisted that a barrier be installed, so as not to be associated with the anti-sanitary measures protesters.
