A young driver in her twenties is between life and death after a violent collision on Saturday in Shefford, Estrie.

The accident occurred between a Honda Fit vehicle and a pickup truck, around 12:25 p.m., in a curve, on chemin Saxby Nord, said the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Sergeant Audrey -Anne Bilodeau.

“The van allegedly lost control in a curve on black ice, obviously, and came into contact with a small car which was coming from the opposite direction. The driver in the Honda Fit was alone on board. She was unconscious when she left for a hospital. We fear for his life.”

As for the van, there were two adults and a child on board. They were all taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

An SQ investigator specializing in collision investigation is on site. Traffic is closed on chemin Saxby Nord, between boulevard David-Bouchard and chemin Ostiguy, for the duration of the investigation.
