The elected official was referring to a statement by a Democratic candidate for Texas governor, Beto O'Rourke, who wants to ban military-style weapons across the country.

To back up his point, Boebert mentioned that Venezuela has a canine meat consumption problem, since the country does not allow its citizens to be armed.

"You know, in Venezuela they eat dogs, because they don't have weapons to defend themselves against their government of tyrants," she said.

According to the "Daily Mail", officials in Venezuela had denied that the practice of eating dogs was commonplace in the country.

The representative from Colorado is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.
