A pedestrian between life and death in Estrie after a possible hit and run

A man in his fifties was found seriously injured, lying in a ditch in Birgham in Estrie early Friday evening.

Around 6:45 p.m., on Adamsville Road in Birgham, a witness contacted authorities about a man lying injured in the ditch.

He was still conscious when help arrived and reportedly mentioned being hit by a car before losing consciousness.

The fifty-year-old was transported in critical condition to a hospital and there are fears for his life, mentioned Geneviève Bareau, public relations officer for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Neither the SQ nor the witness who contacted the police saw any sign of the vehicle which allegedly hit the pedestrian.

"It could be a hit and run," said the SQ.
