To be eligible for this event, players must be born in 2004 or later and have taken part in one of the MLS NEXT domestic events this season, the Bleu-Blanc-Noir explained in a press release. Bouffard, 17, was thus chosen among the 45 representatives of the circuit by a selection committee.

The fullback joined the CF Montreal Academy in 2018 from the Saint-Lambert Soccer Association. He evolved with the U-23 this year, in the Premier League of Soccer of Quebec (PLSQ).
