A package containing drugs, tobacco and cell phones was seized on July 17 at Archambault Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary located in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines.

The vigilance of an employee of the Archambault Institution led to the seizure of 200 grams of marijuana, 385 grams of tobacco and two cell phones. The estimated value of all items is $29,300. The Establishment made the announcement through a press release.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has several tools to prevent the introduction of drugs into its institutions, such as ion scanners and drug detection dogs.

If members of the public have information about activities related to drug use or trafficking that may threaten the safety of visitors, inmates or penitentiary employees, CSC has established an information hotline. It is possible to disclose information anonymously by calling 1-866-780-3784.
