Terrebonne police and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) Tactical Intervention Group (GTI) are trying to get in touch with a possibly armed man barricaded in his residence in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines on Saturday.

Terrebonne police and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) Tactical Intervention Group (GTI) are trying to get in touch with a possibly armed man barricaded in his residence in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines on Saturday.

Around 10 a.m. Saturday morning, the Terrebonne police received a call concerning a 36-year-old man who allegedly made suicidal remarks and who was possibly armed in his residence in Place Clair-Bois, in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines. According to the SQ, the man would be alone.

The police immediately went to the scene to check on the condition of the man, but have not been able to establish contact for the moment. Police are still unaware if the man is inside the residence.

According to police information, the man may be in possession of military weapons. However, the authorities are unable to confirm the information at this time. The GTI was also dispatched to the scene to lend a hand.

As a preventive measure, some shops and residences in the area have been evacuated.

Part of route 335 (montée Gagnon) was closed between boulevard Gibson and rue des Entreprises.
