Acave has warned of the increase in scams on vacation rental booking platforms and has called for more inspections, in a statement this Friday.

The entity has ensured that cases of fraud "have increased compared to 2022" and that platform users who have been scammed and who go to travel agencies to book their vacations have increased.

The president of the association, Jordi Martí, explained that the cases of clients who go to travel agencies because "they don't want to risk it and prefer to have the guarantee of working with approved establishments" are becoming more frequent.

He pointed out that "the habit of contracting travel and cancellation insurance" is also increasing among users.

Acave has called on both the platforms and the authorities to strengthen inspections on these platforms to prevent this type of scam from being perpetuated.
