Back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010, the Boston Celtics can say thank you to Jayson Tatum.

Led masterfully by the electrifying 24-year-old, the Massachusetts team defeated the Miami Heat 100-96 in the final game of the Eastern Conference Finals at FTX Arena.
Tatum was equal to himself, posting a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to collecting six assists, two blocks and a steal. He was named the series' MVP, becoming the first player to win the trophy named for ex-Celtics star Larry Bird.
"I haven't realized yet that I've become the first person to win this trophy," said Tatum, whose comments were picked up by the Celtics website. I am extremely grateful and happy.”
The Boston team showed resilience after losing in Game 6 of the series. In six occasions in this spring tournament, she has never lost two consecutive matches.
Unsurprisingly, head coach Ime Udoka sees Tatum as an integral part of his team's success.
"He carried us on his shoulders this season," he praised. Jayson, he's head of the serpent. He deserves all the recognition. He is only 24 years old and has not reached his full potential.
The Celtics will have a big challenge in the NBA Finals: beat the Golden State Warriors. The team led by Steph Curry is back at the top of the Silver Tour after missing the playoffs the past two seasons.
Tatum will look to excel the same way against Curry as he has against Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jimmy Butler since the start of the playoffs.
The Heat leader was also full of praise for Tatum and the Celtics after the defeat of his family.
"He's a superstar," Butler said. They deserved the victory and I wish them the best for the future. He's quite a player, there's no doubt about it."
The Warriors host the Celtics at Chase Center for Game 1 of the Finals on Thursday night.
"I think it's okay to be proud of ourselves today [Sunday] and enjoy it," Tatum said. But we are not satisfied. We know we still have a long way to go.”
