Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy could well add a new distinction to his honors, since he is one of the three candidates for the Frank-J.-Selke trophy, awarded annually to the player of the Major Junior Hockey League of Quebec (QMJHL) having demonstrated the best sportsmanship.

Jordan Dumais (Halifax Mooseheads) and Justin Robidas (Val-d’Or Foreurs) are also in the running.

Roy only received 22 penalty minutes, while being one of the most used forwards at the Sherbrooke Phœnix. He has already won the Jean-Béliveau trophy – awarded to the top scorer of the regular season – by virtue of a collection of 51 goals and 119 points in 66 games. He was also named Person of the Year.

Selected in the fifth round of the National League draft by the Canadiens in 2021, Roy helped his team reach the semi-finals of the Courteau circuit, but the Charlottetown Islanders had the last laugh. Now that the club from Estrie is eliminated, he has obtained a professional tryout contract with the Laval Rocket, which is scheduled to start the Eastern Conference final in the American League on Saturday against the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Dumais and Robidas only spent six and 12 minutes in jail, respectively.
