A man from Boisbriand, on the North Shore of Montreal, was arrested and charged on Tuesday with child pornography offences.

Jonathan Pelchat, 23, faces charges of accessing, possessing and distributing child pornography, the Sûreté du Québec explained on Wednesday.

Computer equipment was seized by investigators from the suspect's home.

The latter remained detained after his appearance at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse, pending further legal proceedings.
