Atlanta Braves: Ozzie Albies fractures foot

In the midst of an impressive run of success, the Atlanta Braves lost the services of second baseman Ozzie Albies on Monday night.

The 25-year-old fractured his left foot during his fifth-inning appearance at bat against the Nationals in Washington.

Albies fell to the ground after leaving the batting box. He then slowly left the field unaided, but was unable to put any weight on his left leg when he got close to the dugout.

"I hate it for Ozzie and I hate it for us," manager Brian Snitker said at a press conference after the game. It's bad luck. It will eventually be correct. He is young and will heal quickly. I'm just sad for this kid because he loves to play baseball and he's very important to our team."

So far in 2022, Albies has batted .244 and hit eight home runs in 242 appearances at the plate.

The Braves still won their matchup against the Nationals 9-5, extending their winning streak to 12 games.
