Barclays reduces profit by 22.2% until September

The British bank Barclays registered a net attributable profit of 3,987 million pounds sterling (4,577 million euros) in the first nine months of the year, which represents a decline of 22.2% compared to the result recorded by the entity in the same period of 2021, after the adverse impact assumed by the excess issuance of securities in the United States.

In this sense, in its accounts until September the entity records a negative impact of 1,518 million pounds (1,742 million euros) due to litigation, compared to 305 million pounds (350 million euros) in the same period of 2021, including 996 million pounds (1,110 million euros) in relation to the excessive issuance of US securities.

Barclays' turnover between January and September reached 19,155 million pounds (21,990 million euros), 14.1% more, with a 9% growth in business in the United Kingdom, up to 5,289 million pounds (6,072 million euros). euros), while international revenues increased by 15%, to 14,005 million pounds (16,077 million euros).

Likewise, in the first nine months of the year, the British bank assumed credit provisions amounting to 722 million pounds sterling (829 million euros), compared to 622 million pounds (714 million euros) released a year earlier.

In the third quarter, Barclays obtained an attributed net profit of 1,512 million pounds (1,736 million euros), 10% above the profits recorded between July and September 2021.

The entity's income totaled 5,951 million pounds (6,831 million euros), 8.9% more than in the third quarter of 2021, while the entity provisioned 381 million pounds (437 million euros) to cover the risk credit, compared to 120 million pounds (137 million euros) reserved a year earlier.
