Baseball: Nathan Eovaldi moves to Texas

Former Cy-Young Trophy contender Nathan Eovaldi has reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Texas Rangers.

This is what the ESPN network said on Tuesday. Eovaldi, a 32-year-old right-handed gunner, will receive $34 million under the pact, which comes with an option for a third year.

After playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, Eovaldi found stability within the Boston Red Sox organization. He has spent the last four seasons there.

In 2022, the Houston native went 6-3 with a 3.87 ERA in 20 major league starts.

It was a somewhat disappointing campaign for Eovaldi. The previous season, he finished fourth in voting for the Cy-Young with a 2.79 ERA in 182 1/3 innings.

Recall that the Rangers have already got their hands on star pitcher Jacob deGrom via the free agent market, at the beginning of December.
