A 59-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested for assault after several altercations that took place Thursday afternoon following the collision of the two individuals' vehicles on Highway 640 near Boisbriand, in the Laurentians.

The event occurred around 2:15 p.m. on the eastbound highway when the two people began to exchange incivilities at the height of the boulevard de la Grande-Allée, said Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ ).

The altercation happened after a collision between their cars and witnesses had to intervene to separate them.

The case did not stop there as the two drivers raised their voices again after leaving the highway, where they were then arrested by the police.

They were later released on summons. The investigation was still ongoing in the evening, it was said.
