Spain has registered in the first seven months of the year a total of 4,206 bankruptcy proceedings, 4% less compared to the same period last year, and 18,215 dissolutions, 3.5% less, according to data extracted by Informa D

According to the study published this Wednesday, 91% of the bankruptcy proceedings initiated these months correspond to bankruptcies (3,815), while restructuring plans reach 225 and 166 special procedures have been registered.

Considering bankruptcies only in the month of July, the number increased by 10% compared to June, standing at 643. In addition, 29 restructuring plans have been registered, 21% more than in the previous month, and 67 special procedures for micro-enterprises, 60% more, the latter being the highest figure so far this year. The dissolutions this month are cut 1% from a year ago, 9% compared to the previous month, to remain at 1,772.

It is the smaller companies, the micro-enterprises that represent the majority of the tenders started in July, 86%, the small ones account for almost 11%, the medium-sized ones exceed 2% and only one large company has started a tender this month . Regarding the restructuring plans, micro-enterprises account for 45% of the total, surpassed by 48% of small ones, medium-sized ones are 7% and no large company appears.

Catalonia is the community with the highest number of bankruptcies and restructuring processes in the first seven months of the year, with 1,137 and 65 in each case. They are followed by Valencia in bankruptcies, with 601, and Madrid in the case of restructuring plans, with 37. Between the three, they account for 60% of all bankruptcies recorded since January.

On its side, Madrid is the autonomy that has registered the most special procedures so far this year, 52, above the 41 in Catalonia, together adding more than half of the total.
