CaixaBank closes the first semester with 3,500 fixed-rate mortgage novations

MADRID, 6 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

CaixaBank closed the first half of the year with 3,500 fixed-rate mortgage renewal operations, while agreeing on 2,000 refinancing and other mortgage loan payment agreements to alleviate the mortgage burden of customers, according to what the entity itself has indicated.

These 2,000 refinancings increase to a total of 10,000 if the data is taken from the start of the rate hike path undertaken by the European Central Bank (ECB) to curb inflation.

Regarding the code of good practices agreed upon by the banks and the Government, CaixaBank has indicated that it has received to date 5,600 requests that fall within the assumptions to benefit from the relief measures. Of that figure, 34% have already been signed or are in the process of being signed.

In the first six months of the year, the bank granted 40,000 mortgages to families and financing to 88,000 SMEs. Likewise, the financial entity has 390,000 clients with social or basic accounts, as specified.

Last week, CaixaBank reported that it had earned 2,137 million in the first semester, 35.8% more. That same day, the bank's CEO, Gonzalo Gortázar, indicated that the bank's financial strength is what helps it to "continue supporting" families and companies, "fully" developing its social function.
