Cameron Levins sets Canadian record

British Columbian Cameron Levins set a new Canadian record by completing the marathon at the World Championships in Athletics in two hours, seven minutes and nine seconds on Sunday in Oregon.

The 33-year-old broke the previous mark by 25 seconds.

It was he who set the previous record, in 2018, in Toronto.

Levins finished the day's competition in fourth place. This is the best Canadian result at the prestigious event.

Peter Maher previously held the record with a 10th place at the 1993 Worlds.

It was the Ethiopian Tairat Tola who won the race (2:05.36) of the day. His compatriot Mosinet Geremew (2:06.44) and Belgian Bashir Abdi (2:06.48) completed the podium.
